So, “International Womens Day” is trending. Let’s talk about it

I wasn’t planning to write about what’s trending today, but International Womens Day kept popping up – so here we are.

I find myself wondering what people are hoping to confirm when they type it in.

What I saw people linking to

I ended up on ‘OBCT hosting International Women’s Day panel’ (constructconnect.com) and thought: yep, that’ll do it. I found myself thinking, ‘Oh’ that’s why International Womens Day is everywhere today.’

Seeing those headlines helped me understand why International Womens Day is trending today ‘ it’s not just random curiosity; it’s people trying to piece together the same moment from different angles.

My first thought was, ‘Is this serious or is it just the internet being the internet?’

If you want to peek at the trend card yourself, here’s the source link I started from: https://trends.google.com/trending/rss?geo=GB

What I’m trying to do (for my own sanity) is split the topic into three quick questions:

  • What is it? (the plain-English version)
  • Why do people care right now? (the ‘what just happened?’ angle)
  • What does it say about the moment? (the vibe check)

Even without perfect answers, that little framework usually gets me from ‘huh?’ to ‘okay, I get it.’

If you take one thing from this: a trend is a signal, not a verdict – and International Womens Day is a loud signal today.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by it, same. I find it helps to zoom out and look for the simple timeline.
